Steve Parish Photograph Australia

Focus is an important element of any photograph. If a photograph is completely out of focus there is little that can be done to correct it. Because wildlife often requires the use of telephoto lenses, understanding where and how to focus and the ways to manage the lens is vital. My approach is to use either manual or auto focus, always using the animal's head (if the subject is small and some distance away) or its eye (if the subject is close) as the point of focus.
Some 37km north-east of Healesville is Marysville, a wonderful base from which to explore the Central Highlands, which are the foothills of the Great Dividing Range.
